#10 – Budapest by train – 30 Days, 30 Countries
I left Budapest by train towards Bucharest, which got surprisingly more convenient as I found out. The Interrail planner gave a 50 minute transfer in Timisoara or Curtici, however it turns out that from Budapest directly there are already 2 coaches available to Bucharest – which will probably be combined in Timisoara/Curtici with another train. So.. in total I will be in this train for 16 hours and 10 minutes, arriving at Bucharest tomorrow at 8 AM.
Budapest was great! A lot of architecture everywhere (as with the previous destinations), but in Budapest it’s just a little big “bigger”. There’s this huge sort-of-castle-like area known as “Halászbástya”. After you’ve climbed a lot of stairs you get rewarded with a tremendous view over Budapest and the Donau. There’s a lot more to see in Budapest, as the pictures will probably show. Unfortunately I have cheated on myself by spending extra money (it was only 2 euro for 2 single tickets) on alternative public transport to the “tourist hotspots” that was within walking distance – but my feet really needed to relax. And yeyyyy, now they can for the coming 16 hours.
