Night Trains in Turkey

The Night Trains in Turkey, the TCDD, are excellent trains. There are plenty of options for sleeping accomodations. Such as simple straight-up seats or shared compartments. These trains can bring you all the way to the Balkan as well as through whole Turkey. There is a certain charm while traveling on Night Trains.

Within Turkey you can reach places accross the whole country. You can visit amazing places such as Ankara, Ani, Istanbul and Cappadocia. In for an amazing adventure? Then travel towards the borders with Armenia, Georgia and Iran. Traveling in Turkey is daunting, but it’s something that you do not want to miss out on.

Within Turkey

East
TCDD (Ankara Ekspresi) operates between Istanbul and Ankara (daily).
TCDD (Vangölü) operates between Ankara and Tatvan (2 times a week).

North
TCDD (Doğu) operates between Ankara and Kars (daily).
TCDD (Turistik Doğu) operates between Ankara and Kars (daily).

South
TCDD (Güney Kurtalan) operates between Ankara and Kurtalan (5 times a week).
TCDD (Konya Mavi) operates between Konya and Izmir (daily).

West
TCDD (İzmir Mavi) operates between Ankara and Izmir (daily).
TCDD (Göller Ekspresi) operates between Isparta and Izmir (daily).


From Turkey to Bulgaria

FastTrain 1492/1493 (Balkan) operates between Istanbul and Sofia.
The train starts at suburb Istanbul Halkali, where you can transfer from the metro to the train. Have some Turkish Lira’s available (you can ask the conductor on the train for exchange) to buy an Istanbul Transportation Card.


From Turkey to Romania

FastTrain 464/465 (Bosphorus) operates between Bucharest and Istanbul.
The train starts at suburb Istanbul Halkali, where you can transfer from the metro the train. Have some Turkish Lira’s available (you can ask the conductor on the train for exchange) to buy an Istanbul Transportation Card.
