Booking reservations
Interrail lets you travel across Europe without worries. It’s up to you whever you want to go and whenever you want to go. You have to freedom to choose anything! However, keep in mind that some trains require additional seat reservations, which comes at a small additional cost. These seat reservations will give you a spot for the length of your journey, even on busy trains—just like on a plane! In many cases they are not even that expensive.
Slower trains don’t need these. You can simply hop on and sit wherever you like. However, for more faster options, such as HighSpeed trains and NightTrains, seat reservations are almost always required. These extra costs might come as a surprise when starting your Interrail journey, but don’t worry! You can always go for slower trains that don’t need reservations. On the other hand, choosing faster trains can save you a lot of time, so the choice depends on your wishes.
It is best to make seat reservations quickly, since popular routes can fill up. If a train is fully booked, there are always other options – usually slower – available. To help plan your trip, detailed pages can be found below, where you can check if a seat reservation is needed and see the costs. In most cases, you can book your seat reservation online, but if not, you can buy it at the train station. Did you know that you can book most seat reservations directly on Interrail for a small fee? Alternatively, you can book many seat reservations online at railway companies without fees. You can read more about down below. If you want to know more specifically about reserving beds in Night Trains, then checkout the Night Trains with Interrail page.
